Various artist CD's (also known as compilations) provide you with a mix of artists on one CD. Many times an artist or group has only produced a few tracks - not enough material for a complete CD. Oftentime these tracks are used in conjunction with other material. Some compilation tracks are selected on the basis of a theme whether it be a word, common state or subject matter.
